Senior Commercial Manager




Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director the Senior Commercial Manager has a key role to play in continuing our growth and success in the purpose build student accommodation market. With a focus on opening up new areas of the market this role will be responsible for finding opportunities, building long term profitable relationships with customers and delivering ambitious sales targets.

Prospecting & Planning

  • Work with marketing to analyse market data and identify areas of opportunity
  • Canvass new opportunities to establish connection (telephone & email)
  • Liaise with external lead generation to set targets and book appointments
  • Attend industry conferences to represent the business
  • Build targeted sales strategies for specific opportunities
  • Maintain a pipeline of new business 


  • Understand customer requirements and create commercial solutions that fit customers needs
  • Deliver business proposition to wide range of customer stakeholders (presentation)
  • Build commercial proposal including pricing, proposition and contractual terms
  • Negotiate commercial terms, with focus on winning the opportunity whilst maximising the value to the business
  • Close new business in line with company guidelines
  • Manage the renewal / contract extension of existing customers


  • Provide monthly reports on sales activity
  • Create monthly reports on productivity
  • Ensure the internal CRM is regularly maintained and up-to-date (support from Sales Administrator)


  • Provide regular feedback to product and marketing on future opportunities
  • Work closely with Service Delivery to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to customer expectation


  • Participate in annual budget setting to represent your market
  • Support and develop junior sales people within the team

Must Have Skills

  • Ability to present to a wide stakeholder group
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of financials and commercial models
  • Ability to prospect, develop and close new business

Essential Experience

  • Proven sales record
  • Experience of selling IT, telecommunications or technology services

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience selling into property development
  • Previous experience of sales within the student sector
